Everyone looks basically the same. Not that they do, but our brains are wired to look at someone and put them in the “average category” of things based on what we know about human beings.
For example, if we see someone with a long beard and tattoos, we automatically put them in a category based on the common knowledge of what people who look like that are and behave. That could go from “a metal band member” to a “rebellious motorcycle rider.”
However, this same person may be a priest or a teacher. So looks, despite helping us to recognize and categorize the world around us, do not mean that much nowadays.

This being said, what really makes people unique are the small aspects of their personality. The opinions they hold about the little things of life, the way they behave when something unexpected happens, and how they overcome their own hardships. That last one is the bucket that brings our true essence from the deep well that is in our soul and reveals it to everyone around us.
I use this same approach when writing. My characters reveal themselves while going through hardships and challenges, and now the hardcover edition of my book is out. Check it out by clicking here.
