What is the last thing you learned?

Ok, stop trying to do it; it’s impossible, and you’ll get breathless and dizzy and will not be able to read this post.

Now, seriously. The last thing I learned is that I was at a party where everyone wore a mask while I wore my own face. This party is called life, in which you dance with someone as long as they are listening to the same song as you; personal interests.

It’s only when you face hardship in life that you see how little the people or “friends” around you care about you. In a sense, this experience is a blessing because it makes you get reality as it is and not the fake version you believed up to that moment. And I think it’s better to live in a bitter reality than in a sweet illusion.

So, don’t be afraid of facing reality, and let the people around you reveal themselves to you as they are. I guarantee it will make you have a better grasp of life.

This makes me remember a passage in my book where Greg claims he can have 800 friends, and Loren advises him, “Try making 2 or 3 of them, and if you get 5, feel happy as if you had all the magic of both worlds in your hands.”

That’s it. Maybe a really lucky person will have 2 or 3 true friends during their whole lifetime. And 5 of them? Ow, that would be so against the odds that it would be like hitting the jackpot!

But now, due to the situation I’m experiencing because of my dad’s illnesses, I also have to wear a mask, but not one to deceive or manipulate people.

“How are you doing?”

“I’m doing fine.”
