The world is full of problems, and we don’t have to go far to notice them; a simple walk around the block is enough to see many of them in some form or scale.
But how can we improve the world? That’s a very hard job for just one person. But what about improving the communities we live in? It’s still challenging.
However, we can improve ourselves and, by extension, improve the communities we live in; we are part of them, after all.
Here are 10 tips that have helped me to improve myself and that you can apply in your life too:
- Set Clear Goals
Know what you want and create a plan to get there. Purpose drives progress. - Develop a Growth Mindset
Believe you can improve through effort, learning, and persistence. - Build Daily Habits
Success is found in small, consistent actions—wake up early, plan your day, and stay consistent. - Take Care of Your Body and Mind
Eat well, exercise, sleep enough, and practice mindfulness or meditation. - Keep Learning
Read, take courses, ask questions, and always stay curious. - Practice Self-Discipline
Stay focused, manage your time, and avoid distractions and procrastination. - Communicate with Kindness and Confidence
Listen well, express yourself clearly, and treat others with respect. - Surround Yourself with Positive Influences
Choose friends, mentors, and communities that inspire and uplift you. - Give Back and Be Grateful
Help others, show appreciation, and recognize what you have. - Reflect and Improve Regularly
Take time to think about your actions, learn from mistakes, and make small adjustments.
Besides all that, I’d also love to make libraries more available for everyone. I’d put a library in every corner of the community I live in if I could afford that.
And if I did it, I’d follow the smart pattern set by the Iraqis, who have open-air libraries and affordable bookstores.

What a great lesson, isn’t it?
